Horse riding is an activity for all ages and abilities. More and more adults are taking to the sport for its exercise benefits and as a relaxing means to enjoy the great outdoors.

Imagine the buzz of galloping along a deserted beach, through a quiet forest or open plain. Horse riding allows you to discover and explore, giving you a sense of pure, timeless freedom and thorough exhilaration.

WHAT IS THERAPEUTIC RIDING?

Therapeutic riding is an rehabilitation programme, where the horse is the therapeutic medium; it improves the overall health and quality of life of people with physical, mental, or emotive disorders.

The horse becomes an extension of their own body; it helps them venture into new experiences and discover unprecedented feelings: the pleasure of a ride or the thrill of a walk in the countryside, or, mainly, that precious sense of movement and personal independence.

The walk of a horse is similar to the human gait; therefore, it transmits to the rider's body that same movement which legs produce in people with no disabilities.

In this way, the torso muscles of people with mobility problems are strengthened significantly; at the same time, sitting in that particular upright posture promotes good respiration.

Therapeutic riding is a unique experience for people with disorders, who never thought that they could ride; it differs from traditional treatments of gyms, physical therapy, and hydrotherapy.

 

HORSE & PONY RIDING LESSONS

We have two outdoor arena's suitable for both beginner and advanced riding lessons. For the beginners, we begin with basic balance exercises and simple riding movements. The advanced riders are challenged with three riding gaits (Walk, Trot, Gallop) and then begin to learn test routines. 

 

 

VAULTING PRACTICE & SHOWS

Vaulting is classed as an olympic sport. It involves making acrobatic movements on the horse's back. It helps children build their body strength and balance whilst apon a horse.   

 

 
 
 

TRAIL RIDING ON THE BEACH & AROUND THE SALT LAKE
The trail riding on the beach is our most popular ride. We have the option for both beginners and experienced riders to participate. We offer guides for the beginners safety, walking attached with a lead rope or alongside the horse for the riders safety.
The experienced riders also have a guide infront, who takes them a beautiful ride, including all gaits. During this ride there is an opportunity to swim with the horses on our tranquil Marmari Beach. Along the ride you get the chance to see the Salt Lake and depending of the season, Flamingo's can be spotted here. And not forgetting watching the sunset from on the horse's back.
 
 
 TRAIL RIDING UP THE MOUNTAIN OF OLD PILI
The trail riding up the mountain is for experienced riders only. It is a calm but intense uphill ride. The views are breathtaking along the way, enjoying the fresher air and forest wildlife.  
 
 
 
 
CARRIAGE RIDING AROUND THE SALT LAKE & THROUGH MARMARI
For those who don't want horseback riding, we have a horse and carriage waiting in Marmari town. This is a very gentle ride through our local village and around the edge of the Salt Lake. Our carriage seats a maximum of two adults and two children.
